Damian Müller has been elected president of Swiss Medtech, succeeding Beat Vonlanthen, who is handing over leadership after six years.
The Assembly also elected two female entrepreneurs—Lifestage Solutions AG CEO Juliette von Arx and Medows Sàrl CEO Katrin Siebenbürger Hacki—to the Board of Directors. Both women have more than 20 years of medtech industry experience. von Arx replaces Harald Schatzi and Siebenbürger Hacki will play a key role in developing Swiss medtech in the French-speaking Romandie region.
"The medtech sector is an extremely important asset for both the Swiss economy and the provision of healthcare," the 39-year-old Müller said after his election. "I believe communicating this value to the outside world is one of my most important tasks as Swiss Medtech President." A resident of Canton, Lucerne, Müller has served on the Swiss Medtech board for the past year.
Swiss Medtech represents more than 750 members in its role as industry association for Swiss medical technology. With 67,500 employees and a contribution of 11.5% to the positive trade balance, medical technology is an economically significant sector in Switzerland. Swiss Medtech advocates for conditions that enable the medtech industry to perform at peak capacity and provide first-class medical care.
