Philips will introduce its latest artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions for patient care at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) annual meeting.
In addition to highlighting its CT, MR, diagnostic X-ray, ultrasound, image-guided therapy, and enterprise informatics, the company will debut the first European BlueSeal MR “helium-free” mobile unit for Denmark-based Agito Medical Imaging at ECR. Philips claims its MRIs with the BlueSeal magnet have saved over 1.9 million liters of helium since 2018, compared to a classic magnet with 1,500 liters of helium.
Philips will also spotlight its “Care meets the world” campaign, which emphasizes that human health and environmental health must be linked. On display will be energy-efficient technologies that aim to better use and re-use products and materials.
The company’s chief medical officer in Precision Diagnosis and Image Guided Therapy Atul Gupta, MD said Philips’ AI-enabled solutions can help radiologists address cost of care, staff shortages, and improving outcomes, all while reducing environmental impact. Dr. Gupta is also a diagnostic and interventional radiologist.
“One stand-out example is Philips’ leadership in helium-free MR operations,” Dr. Gupta told the press. “With more than 1,000 systems installed globally, the Philips BlueSeal magnet is the industry's first 1.5T fully sealed magnet, relieving health systems from helium-related complications. We have now brought our innovation in helium-free MR to a mobile truck.”
Earlier this week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared an update to Philips' IntelliVue software that helps drive alarm management strategies.
