Oberg Industries, a full-service contract manufacturer of precision metal components and assemblies, has hired Mark Pelo as director of manufacturing to help align the company for future growth. Pelo will oversee the manufacturing operations of Oberg's "turning" disciplines as well as develop and maintain the company's quality, delivery, and continuous improvement processes. He will report to Chief Operating Officer Rich Bartek.
"Mark brings a wealth of process development knowledge and expertise within the manufacturing industry having spent the last 11 years with Medtronic Spinal and Biologics where he was instrumental in developing new cost-effective manufacturing processes and acquiring several patents. As we continue to work with our customer partners with a joint focus on design for manufacturability, Mark became a natural fit to complement and lead our internal team because of his strong experience and background," said Bartek.
Pelo has more than 25 years experience as an engineer and senior manager of manufacturing process development. Before he worked at Medtronic Spinal and Biologics, Mark served as senior manufacturing engineer with DePuy (now DePuy Synthes) and held various other management positions.
Headquartered just north of Pittsburgh, Pa., Oberg Industries is a diversified manufacturer with more than 800 employees worldwide specializing in the production of precision machined or stamped metal components and precision tooling.
Oberg's global manufacturing footprint includes operations in Pennsylvania, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
